Across the chasm

When the AA gun hill comes into sight, run past the sandbagging then off to the left. There's a chasm along that side but you can jump across where it's relatively narrow. A grav lift or grenade jump makes it easier but you can do it unassisted if you've learnt where the right spots are. Specifically, there are two places where rocky slabs of ground jut out on the other side, and those are where you can jump to unassisted if you leap from the very edge. The slabs aren't easily seen as you approach, but their appearance can be learnt. To identify them for the first time, I suggest that you get to the other side with a grenade jump then use a grav lift to get an aerial view so you can see what sticks out furthest.
A lot of the scenery elements over here are purely cosmetic; you can move through trees and walls. You can go back parallel to the way you came and explore quite a large area. There's some rather odd texturing on the rocky ground (including the slabs I mentioned), which sort of changes as you move around. I really don't think you were meant to be over here!

You can also clamber down into the chasm, where you'll see more of that odd rocky texturing. At a certain point you'll die though. Darn! Just when it was getting really interesting…
