Cripple and destroy

After dealing with the Wraith on the beach, advance alone on foot and try this method of destroying the Banshees which attack on Heroic or Legendary (they don't seem to bother on Normal or Easy). Just ahead there's a huge rock at approximately the place where the Banshees start to engage you. Using the rock for cover, tempt each one into an attacking run, bring it down to the ground with a power-cutting plasma ball from a plasma pistol, then quickly tag it with a grenade while it's helpless. BOOM! Doesn't it feel good to take out those things by hand?
PS: If you enjoyed that, you can advance and try a similar technique on the two Ghosts. But another way of eliminating a Ghost is to tempt it towards you, duck into cover, then pop back out and headshoot the occupant as he drives off. Hee hee!
