Commentary
00:02 (Sniper shunt) On the way to the Marine squad in the tunnel at the bottom of the valley, we take a blast from one of the Banshees. The sniper loses his seat and then gets shunted long and high by the rear of the hog - eventually to bounce off a tree. He didn't survive the impact with the ground. August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.
00:25 (Snuffed out) During a battle against marauding Banshees, one of them has flown down the tunnel and around the corner. When I approach, it's pushing against the wall in a clumsy attempt to fly back out, just as I was expecting. I tag it on the nose but the pilot snuffs the grenade out! Maybe he's not so stupid after all. I get him with my next one though. August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.
00:40 (Head Jackal) In regard to playing with externals, it's never been easy to get a Jackal to land on my head and stay there a while, but here's a nice example. This guy makes some odd movements and seems a bit confused about where I am. Guess he's just not used to having a cyborg under foot! July 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM152. Level 3, Normal.
01:04 (Needles from above) After this Elite from the bridge misses a swipe, he clumsily sidesteps off the ledge. I give chase with a rapid descent of my own, firing needles as I go, and they pile into him with explosive effect. February 2011 footage from when I was recording for BCM29. Level 5, Heroic.
01:23 (Triple whack boost) While fighting Hunters on the beach, one of them goes flying after being clobbered by three of his buddies. Got some good height there! I subsequently try to tag him, but I was mixed up, set for frag grenades instead. If this high-flying Hunter reminds you of something, you may be thinking of a similar event shown in my very first 'freakiness and fun' movie BCM56 ('Boosted Hunter' at 0:27). June 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM148. Level 4, Heroic.
01:37 (Blind tag) A Banshee climbs and then makes a dive out of the sun. I can't see it but I throw anyway, trying to judge things based on where I think he'll be - and I score a hit! August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM155. Level 2, Legendary.
01:54 (Lost my ride) After boarding a Ghost I head into battle to destroy the Wraiths, but things go badly wrong. The Ghost is overturned by a blast against the tree, and I'm left standing while my ride skims along the ice upside-down. The inevitable close-range plasma blast soon arrives. August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM153. Level 5, Legendary.
02:10 (Bumped out) Here's something curious. Just after I throw a plasma grenade at the fuel rod joker I was seeking out, I get bumped out of the passage, into a black void. So, now I know what it's like for the Grunts and Jackals, who quite often fall into the void when things are crowded. I hadn't previously known it was black though; I would've expected white. September 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM158. Level 3, Normal.
02:28 (Last of the Mohicans) Remember BCM112 with the spinning plasma pistol? Prior to backtracking to that novelty in the cavern, I had a checkpoint in this rising tunnel, and ahead was the final Jackal after I'd done a stealthy job of killing the rest. I had fun with him multiple times, and this is one such example. August 2014 footage. Level 5, Legendary.
02:47 (Ram 'n blast) I did quite a bit of Ghost ramming while making my cavern megabattle Banshee attack montage earlier this year. Here's a nice example which didn't make it into the movie. May 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM143. Level 5, Normal.
02:58 (Marine support) Things seem to be going quite well in this Banshee battle, until I suddenly find myself flying through the air - which gave me a nasty shock. Did you hear the Marine who shouted "Fire in the hole"? That was the reason of course. Arrgh! A fine example of Marine support. August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM155. Level 2, Legendary.
03:20 (Explosive ejection) When I destroy a Wraith, the pilot is initially blasted out, then boosted away by his own plasma grenades. Unusually spectacular! August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM153. Level 5, Legendary.
03:30 (Hotshot Hunter) Launching myself into battle with a hog flip designed to squash, that works out fine. But apparently one of these guys is a bit of a hotshot and not flustered at all. He sends me flying before I get chance to fire my first rocket. June 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM148. Level 4, Heroic.
03:50 (Deep cover) In the first octagonal room a Grunt has freakily ended up in a pipe after I threw a frag into the room. He dived clear, and either made it there by himself or got a boost from the frag. I didn't see it, because after my throw I'd continued on around the outside of the room. I subsequently realized he was in there, and then got a checkpoint, which enabled me to repeatedly play around with him. I kept that save, intending to make a clip for one of these movies, but it's taken me ages to get around to it. In this play I kill him in a novel way, via deflected needle stream. Bet you haven't seen that before! November 2015 footage from a save made while recording for BCM38. Level 5, Legendary.
04:14 (Grippy Shade) Ok, nothing very spectacular here, but those Shades really can grip at crazy angles huh? If you're wondering what happened here, I had a large squad of Marines in a pen, and I killed them (mostly with a rocket I think). January 2014 footage from when I was recording for BCM93. Level 5, Heroic.
04:36 (Second time around) Throwing a plasma at an incoming Banshee, I'm a fraction late and it sails up past the tail. My second throw misses too. Not good. But wait! That first grenade isn't done with yet. The silly pilot curves around and collects it on the roof as he flies off! August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM155. Level 2, Legendary.
04:52 (Plasma storm) I've had some pretty impressive chain reactions near this spawning area for the Grunt-Jackal spawning trick, but this one really surprised me. Just when I thought it was dying out after half a dozen plasma bangs, it started up again and went though another half dozen or so, churning up the Grunts and Jackals behind the doors, which they clip through. Wasn't sure what to title this clip, but 'Plasma storm' seemed reasonable. It must've got quite toasty in there. July 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM152. Level 3, Normal.
05:07 (Wort wort what?) Yet again, a Banshee cruises down the tunnel and around the corner. As I approach, I anticipate where it's going to be and speculatively bounce a frag off the wall - and it ends up comically cutting short his greeting. August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.
Closing remarks With this movie done, my reserves of 'freakiness and fun' footage are now down to a relatively low level, so I think it may be quite a while before I put the next one together.
