BCM543 - Landing battle x5, all Marines saved

(5:32) Level 4 ('The Silent Cartographer') on Legendary. In this sequel I again tackle the landing battle, saving all six Marines each time. I've also now posted an article on tackling the battle.

Released January 19th 2025, gameplay recorded January 10th-17th 2025.

Commentary

00:02 A spot more fly-in footage for atmosphere, but different from last time.

00:08 (Frag blitz) What we've got here is basically a centre attack using a barrage of frags to take out the Grunts and maybe also hurt the Elite. Actually the Elite dives clear, but at least it briefly held him up from shooting. In the dark alleyway later, I actually tag both of the Jackals. I wasn't aiming for a tag in either case.

01:18 (Rock dash) Here I advance towards the central rock, using it to shield me from the Elite while I work on the Grunts. A nice tactic I think. When it comes to tackling the second group of covies, I curve around the left for a change, before charging in crossways. In the background, one of the Pelicans can be seen departing.

02:22 (AR only) A challenge here, limiting myself to the AR. At the second group of covies I pause behind the front stationary shield and then get a nice tag on the Elite. With the final group, my shield is down so I take the opportunity to circle around to attack from behind, which comes off quite nicely.

03:25 (Needler grab) I did two needler grab plays in the last movie, but in this one I do a cliffside advance, needling the second Elite before the first. He was making a nice target. At the end there's a nice finish when I tag an Elite just before jumping over him.

04:21 (Along and around) With this plan I skirt along the beach doing good damage on the way, then head on to attack the final group of covies from behind, leaving the Marines to face the other covies. Works out well, and plasma grenades play a part in the final two Elite kills. Right at the end there's a line from Stacker which I actually can't remember hearing before. That unusual ending is actually part of why I selected this particular play for the movie.

Closing remarks As with the previous movie, I took care to count the surviving Marines each time, to make sure they were all there. In the first four battles you can see it for yourself in the footage.
