Commentary

00:02 (Quick Warthog set-up) To start with, here's a quick and simple set-up in which you just get a Warthog.

00:34 (Play 1) Arriving from the normal direction, Stacker mans the chain-gun and a good deal of splattering ensues. I do quite well with that, resulting in a relatively short battle. Actually I needed quite short battles for the movie, so I could fit everything in.

01:24 (Play 2, with rear approach) Now here's an example of approaching from the rear, and I initially dedicate a good deal of footage to the splatter-rich journey you can enjoy. The snippet where I splatter the circle of Jackals is actually from a different play, but I wanted to use it as the action there was particularly entertaining. In the battle itself, Stacker mans the chain-gun again (just by luck), and at the end we all spill out from a late frag blast.

03:01 (Warthog & launcher set-up) Moving to the second set-up, this time I get a Warthog plus a rocket launcher, along with a full needler, 4 plasma grenades, and an overshield. I've cut almost all the covie slaying to keep things brief, but once on the path into the interior, I killed everyone until inside the substation. Also not shown, I got the needler from the Grunts outside, before entering.

Once I disembarked, the set-up took almost exactly five minutes to create, which is rather slow. I later realised that there's a benefit to doing things fast. You can read about that set-up detail in my article.

By the way, when I stealth-killed the red Elite at the path entrance, that was just done on the spur of the moment, as he happened to be making such an inviting target, close to my course. The other covies weren't alerted, and that was fortunate because I later found that I could have good fun splattering the still-intact circle of Jackals.

03:47 (Play 1) For this opening play I focus on the rocket launcher. Actually, it looks like my early actions killed a Marine. I think he got splattered by the hog, which got sent flying by my first rocket.

04:35 (Play 2) This time I add some heavy needling to the proceedings. But I'm maybe a bit too enthusiastic with it at the end! The Marines were not happy.

05:32 (Play 3, with rear approach) A rear approach to finish, and I should mention that the initial two driving snippets are actually from different plays, for the sake of showing nice examples of the actions in question. Notice that with the Jackal circle, I'm swinging the hog in the other direction to before. That felt easier actually, due to the slope of the ground.

Closing remarks Maybe some more coming on this topic? We'll see.
