BCM589 - Cavern descent by Warthog, riding in passenger spots

(5:51) Level 5 ('Assault on the Control Room') on Heroic. When working on the bouncing business of that last movie, there was one time when I unexpectedly found myself sliding down in the side-seat instead. A novelty! Naturally, that focused my mind on getting rides not only in the side-seat, but hopefully also on the chain-gun. Here's the story, plus there's a discovery near the end!

Released September 21st 2025, gameplay recorded September 17th-20th 2025.

Commentary

00:02 (Weird thing happened) If you go back to the 3:13 clip in the previous movie, that's what I was trying for here, i.e. starting some bouncing. But on this occasion (which was just ten minutes later), I unexpectedly found myself in the side-seat! I'd never slid down in the side-seat before.

01:06 (Failures, trying for more) Naturally I started trying for more boardings, now I knew it was viable. Not the easiest thing to do, and here are three representative failures (in chronological order actually).

01:39 (Chain-gun ride) Before too long though, I was getting rides on the chain-gun. This was my third, a relatively neat example and nicely seen in the camerawork.

02:39 (More failures) The work continued, and here are three more failures among many. As before, I've just picked out some of the more comical ones for entertainment value.

03:12 (Side-seat again) I finally got a second ride in the side-seat here. Very neat boarding. I saw the seat and went for it. A medley of sniper rifle views follows, as the journey unfolds.

03:56 (Another way, plus mid-slide transfer) Moving to the next day now, I started also using this set-up, which I'd been using in the previous movie. But instead of trying to get on top of the hog, I'm trying to grab a passenger spot. Actually I only ever got the chain-gun with this method, never the side-seat. This nice example goes on to feature my first ever mid-slide transfer, a possibility I'd wondered about. I bail and flip the hog, and then board the side-seat, with the hog continuing the slide.

Note: this is similar to how The Shilt Show grabbed a ride down on the gun, in a video which I'd watched a few weeks earlier. I'd actually forgotten about that! So I definitely wasn't the first to be doing it.

04:55 (Mid-slide transfer again) We're back to my left spin approach here, for another example of transferring from chain-gun to side-seat. Again the hog is configured left side down.

05:21 (Transfer denied) With left side up, I could never get such a transfer. The flip always break the slide, and I'd also got no boarding opportunity.

Closing remarks While making this movie, another interesting thing happened, giving me a topic for yet another instalment. Stay tuned! And by the way, I've also been busy putting together a detailed article on this Warthog descent business, so that should be coming fairly soon too.
