BCM607 - Twin bridges megabattle, trough defence solo x3 with blitzing

In case you weren't aware, battling in the trough is just fabulous!

(6:56) Level 5 ('Assault on the Control Room') on Normal. I'd intended that last movie to conclude my twin bridges megabattling for now, but then I started doing some trough battling for fun and was enjoying it so much that I decided to start recording for another movie. I ended up focusing on a new tactic, trying to initially blitz the covies from a forward position with the aid of Banshee cover. Rather enjoyable! I'm using the same set-up as before, featuring 50 covies.

Commentary

00:02 (Play 1 - Needler & plasma rifle) A good opening blitz here, in which six of the twelve Elites are killed. I'm careful not to hang around too long though; you can easily end up dead that way. After I reach the back of the trough and top up with needles there's a sudden rush of four Elites, but fortunately only one of them is red and I take him down quickly, so I get through it rather easily.

The final two Elites only turn up near the end, just as I'm dealing with the last Jackal. After a short bit of needler duelling, they're cooked, and I just have three Grunts to slay. A nice final bit of needling.

02:44 (Play 2 - Plasma pistol & AR) This weapon combo turned out to be very nice for doing blitzing. As you can see, I go for a sequence of 'stun and tag' moves on the arriving Elites. Only one of the attempted tags actually succeeds, namely with a red Elite, but one of the other plasmas tags an Elite it wasn't aimed for. Overall the blitzing goes well though, with nine of the Elites killed, if you include my departing plasma throw around 3:22.

05:01 (Play 3 - Launcher & AR) Almost forgot about the AR in this battle, the rocketing was going so well. Just used a single burst on a Grunt, near the end. Of course, I was aided by the spare launcher at the bottom of the trough. A very nicely provisioned save!

Almost got caught out by a red Elite attacking from behind, around 5:53. Hadn't noticed him on my tracker; too focused on my rocket work! Fortunately I rocketed him quick, before my health got critical.

Closing remarks Have to say, battling in the trough is tremendous. Such a unique environment. Got some very nice action here with this blitzing business, and had a great time. Must do some more of it!
