BCM609 - Twin bridges megabattle, trough defence solo, Ghost challenge
(7:30) Level 5 ('Assault on the Control Room') on Normal. Both of the trough battles in the last movie included some Ghost play, but now I step things up by tackling what I call the Ghosts 'n rocket challenge. Namely to slay the covies via Ghost use, except for finishing off with a rocket (for a nice explosive ending). Using multiple Ghosts is allowed.

Commentary
00:02 (Failure) On this play I start with some blitzing using the Banshee for cover, and things initially go okay. But after about 30 seconds of hostilities my machine gets blown up when a plasma grenade explodes nearby. If I recall correctly, I'd seen that grenade sail in, but I thought my Ghost was going to be clear of it. A misjudgement!
01:09 (Success, with double Hunter splatter) Again I'm driven back from my blitzing, and you might notice that the Banshee subsequently gets tagged by a Grunt's bad throw.
After the Hunters turn up I switch to a new Ghost (high time too), but it quickly takes a direct hit from the Hunter boys. A nasty turn of events, but things look better after the Hunters get splattered one after the other, when I wasn't even trying (the first guy actually jumped into my path).
After more covies arrive I switch to a new Ghost again, and finish things with no trouble.
03:48 (Success, with tunnel use and 4 great splatters) This time I initially hang back out of range. After doing some damage I get into a tunnel and enjoy a 'tunnel shoot' for a while, during which I kill at least a dozen covies. But a Hunter turns up, and I don't exactly have much dodging room! He misses two shots, but then I decide that it's time to leave.
After some more good work I 'hot swap' into a second Ghost ('hot' in the sense of being in the thick of things), and with that machine I score an excellent splatter of a blue Elite around 5:51. Another soon follows (blue Elite again), and after I switch to my third Ghost I score two more (red Elite, and Hunter). A very satisfying sequence!
One other highlight is the amusing friendly fire incident, when a Grunt gets blasted by a Hunter around 6:12.
To mention one other incident, around 6:33 (just after the third splatter), my Ghost got somewhat caught up against the wall. I was trying to turn but was being hindered. I was immediately fearful of a Hunter shot sailing in to blast me, if I didn't shift quick. Well, a shot did indeed sail in, but fortunately I'd got clear in the nick of time. Phew!
07:10 (Tagged) Just for an amusing ending, here's an explosive failure clip. At the time, I was so focused on the covies ahead of me that I didn't even notice that I'd been tagged. And then I was sailing through the air, wondering what just happened.
Closing remarks Definitely some of the best Ghost fun I've ever had. I really should've been using Ghosts in the trough much sooner!
