Commentary
00:02 (Play 1 - AR & needler) In this first play the Hunters actually enter the fray together, which based on my experience so far, is relatively unusual. Anyhow, I manage to handle them despite the narrow confines.
02:18 (Where are the Hunters?) This snippet gives you a sense of where the Hunters initially are. I did a load of plays like this, hoping for ones which were strong on amusement. The bit that sold me on this one is the Grunt complaining at the end, a Hunter having killed a Jackal with his fuel rod shot. But another bit of comedy is when a Grunt goes flying from a Hunter whack.
02:40 (Play 2 - Rear attack) Circling around for a rear attack, I find that the Hunters are now both in the boarding room, which handily allows me to ambush the cluster of covies in the side-passage (all Grunts except for one Jackal). Fortunately the Hunters don't attack quickly (unlike the case for many other plays), which is a big help in enabling me to make my escape and clear the covies up the rise.
04:50 (Play 3 - Plasma combo) A straightforward battle with plasma weapons now, and the fastest one in the movie. Nice plasma grenade ending.
Closing remarks For this set-up I cut back a little on the spawning time, because I didn't want to risk ending up with too much framerate slowdown. With the presence of the Hunters, I was concerned that if I had about 60 Grunts and Jackals, it might be a bit much for the game to handle. Things have turned out to be fine with the 50 Grunts and Jackals though.
Another instalment coming next, I anticipate.
