BCM687 - Jackal-heavy horde, hang-back special

(7:46) Level 3 ('The Truth and Reconciliation') on Heroic. In what I think will be my final passage horde battle movie for now, I have a new Jackal-heavy horde, and the focus of the movie is on hanging back up the rise, attacking covies as they come. A bit more leisurely than a lot of my other plays! I thought it was worth showcasing this different way of fighting.

Released September 7th 2026, gameplay recorded September 5th-6th 2026.

Commentary

00:02 (Play 1 - Hanging back, sniping) The sniper rifle is the most obvious weapon to use for hang-back play, so I get right down to business with it. I kill 23 of the 32 Jackals from up at the top, before going down the rise for phase 2 - which is when the first of the 19 Grunts is seen.

03:22 (Play 2 - Hanging back, needling) Now I do much the same but with needling! I have three spare needlers up the rise (this set-up was rather well provisioned), so the situation is pretty good for ammo.

06:22 (Play 3 - Snappy AR finish) Just to go out on an energetic note, here's a vigorous and quick AR play with lots of explosions. It includes a spot of Grunt comedy near the end, when a Grunt dares me to "do dat again" and I oblige.

Closing remarks This set-up was my attempt at an even better Jackal-heavy horde than I featured in BCM676-678. Doing such horde shaping isn't easy, and although the proportion of Jackals turned out to be about 63%, beating the approximate 50% in the earlier set-up, it just didn't strike me as being as visually impressive as I'd wanted, so I was disappointed. Maybe I'll have another try later, who knows. But when I did some playing, I got into some hang-back fun and decided it was worth showing some plays of that type, as I hadn't really done that before (though there was a sniping play in BCM669 which had a bit of a hang-back nature).

This now makes twenty movies on the passage horde battle. Pretty solid coverage I think.
