BCM558 - Pyramid descent fight x2, with stealth & hybrid play

(6:27) Level 8 ('Two Betrayals') on Heroic. Using the same pyramid descent fight set-up again, here are another two plays. In the first I use a pistol and plasma pistol, going for a bit of stealth in places, while in the second I adopt a hybrid plan, going by both air and foot, and including a sniping phase.

Released March 18th 2025, gameplay recorded March 15th-16th 2025.

Commentary

00:02 (Pistol & plasma pistol) After the shotty rampage of the last movie, I thought I'd do something a bit different here, going for a bit of stealth before reaching the snow. Or perhaps more generally, stealth and surprise, because I'm not necessarily trying to keep things quiet. I've also taken the opportunity to identify some covie groups for you, as listed in my article.

When I get near the snow around 1:49, I want to get into position at the excellent ambushing spot on this side of the wide underpass. But after my plasma ball misses the distant approaching red Elite, who ideally needed to fall quickly, that upsets the plan a bit as I'm obliged to go after him. After he's down though, I'm able to tag a blue Elite and hop over him to finally get into position. I was pleased with that recovery, and in due course it pays off as I kill the gold without much trouble.

At 2:20 I briefly look around for spare plasmas, and completely miss a couple by the nearby rock, which came from that red Elite I fragged. Doh! However, I've still got three, and I subsequently find a bunch below the underpass, so I'm well equipped for destroying the Wraith.

03:19 (Hybrid play) Quite a mix of play now, but basically I use the Banshee for transport and do most of the actual killing on foot. Initially I employ the shotgun and rocket launcher, wiping out the first three covie groups. But then I get a sniper rifle for a new phase. It's a pity I rocketed the gold Elite around 5:22. An incoming Wraith shot was about to do the job for me, and that would've been amusing.

A highlight of this play comes around 5:35. Seeing that the remnants of path group 3 are clustered at the entrance to the lower tunnel (I'd never seen so many of them there before), I send in a long-distance rocket and the resulting wipeout is pretty glorious.

If you step through frame by frame just after 4:52, you can see the Wraith pilot being moved across the battlefield, to board. Across three frames he closes in, then on the fourth he's there.

Closing remarks Hmm… what to show next on this topic? So many possibilities!
