BCM593 - Spiral path megabattle, rear attacks with added clutter

(6:23) Level 5 ('Assault on the Control Room') on Heroic. The spiral path megabattle rear attack theme continues, but this time I've made a few changes to the set-up, which adds considerable fun!

Released October 2nd 2025, gameplay recorded September 28th 2025.

Commentary

00:02 (Banshee; launcher & AR) At the start of this opening play I'm at my checkpoint position, ready for action. I'd got a delayed tunnel checkpoint here after doing the modification work.

Whizzing off in the Banshee, you soon get a view of the clutter I added to the pass. When I now also add my Banshee to it, I've got a line of three Banshees across the pass, as well as a Shade further back, which I then blast into the mob - which is partly why I put it there.

As if by magic, the sword guy appears out of the explosion and is suddenly upon me. I almost get sliced up, but luckily he misses and I put him down quick with the AR. Thereafter, I enjoy a good deal of rocket work, including trying to blast a Banshee towards the covies. There's eventually a big chain reaction around 1:24 which largely breaks the covie resistance.

At the start of the secondary phase, namely dealing with the covies outside the pass, an orange Grunt gets splattered by a Shade I'd just grenaded as an advance action. Quite amusing I thought.

02:09 (Ghost; launcher & pistol) This time I venture forth in the Ghost, spattering an Elite as I cruise through the mob. It's pretty easy to get past the two Banshees, and on this occasion I actually get a nice corkscrew! After a brief bit of work with the Ghost, I dismount and get busy with rockets, grenades and pistol fire, making good use of a displaced Banshee for cover.

In the secondary phase the last of the Marines unfortunately gets killed, but at least I have some good fun with a needler I picked up (replacing the empty launcher), and end with a Grunt tag.

04:42 (Banshee; tank) Another thing I added was the Scorpion, which you probably already noticed. So here's a tank play. It's rather a death trap, as damage crazily comes through to you despite the armour, but you do still have an enormous gun to deal death with of course. On this occasion I manage to avoid dying, even though I'm being rather gung-ho for the sake of spectacle.

My favourite bit is when I get the tank through the pass and blast the two Jackals. A nice bang that was!

Closing remarks More plays coming next! In fact I have two more movies coming up, using this new set-up.

By the way, if you're wondering how I managed to do the modification work without the Marines getting killed in the meanwhile, I first of all drew them to the back of the twin bridges area in my Banshee. When I then flew off to make my modifications, the Marines remained in that area in paused state. After I'd done my work, I triggered and delayed a tunnel checkpoint, then went back near the Marines and drew them back to the spiral path area, where I eventually got the checkpoint in a convenient spot at the base of the path.
