BCM611 - Twin bridges megabattle, tunnel fun in the trough

(6:33) Level 5 ('Assault on the Control Room') on Normal. Yet more trough battling with my new 53-covie set-up. Back in BCM609 I featured a brief 'tunnel shoot' using a Ghost, but here I execute two longer tunnel shoots, the first focused on sniping and the second on Shade use, which is more difficult.

Released December 17th 2025, gameplay recorded December 16th 2025.

Commentary

00:02 (Play 1 - Sniping focus) Going mildly deep into a tunnel and using the sniper rifle is a nice idea. Here I also use a pistol and a rocket launcher.

An amusing incident at 2:04. I throw a plasma at a panicking red Grunt, but he dives and the grenade instead tags a Grunt further back.

Incidentally, don't station yourself too deep in your tunnel, or the covies actually get drawn out of the trough, to an area outside the whole pipe structure. The threshold is namely about halfway along.. However, you can always draw them back by getting shallow enough in the tunnel.

03:34 (Play 2 - Shade focus) Seeing as how my set-up had a Shade near the tunnels, it was a natural idea to blast it into a tunnel to shoot from there. Survival can be hard though, at least if the Shade isn't very far back. Here however, I cut down the enemy lines of fire using Banshee cover, and that helps get me through the hectic early phase, to eventually prevail.

For this battle I took a rocket launcher for taking care of the Hunters when they turn up. The Shade doesn't work fast enough on them. Of course, I also enjoyed rocketing a few other covies too! My other selected weapon was a plasma pistol, mainly for whacking the Shade if I wanted some adjustment.

Note: When flying in, I set off a chain reaction for fun, as I haven't shown that potential before. The loose plasmas were from Elites I eliminated in creating the set-up via modification. Originally the mob had 18 Elites, but I sniped 4.

Closing remarks I'd thought that the previous movie was going to be my last (for now) using the new set-up, but then I started doing some sniping from this tunnel, and soon felt the need to start recording, leading to this movie. There's a sequel coming up too, so stay tuned!

I used the same tunnel in both plays because the other tunnel suffers quite badly from audio issues, with outer sounds often getting muted. But you can still use that other tunnel of course.
