Commentary
00:02 (Finishing touch) After neatly destroying this circling Banshee at just the right time to make the pilot come flying my way, I tag him as a finishing touch - which wasn't easy! Amusingly, he's flushed away by the waterfall. December 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM209. Level 2, Normal.
00:25 (Visor tag) Here's a time when I quite legitimately could not "see out of that bloody visor". A Grunt tags it and I end up going on an aerial excursion, not unlike the one I included in the last 'freakiness and fun' movie. February 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM272. Level 2, Heroic.
00:45 (Got the jitters) On the Maw bridge, I tag a pilot and his Banshee gets jittery. It's like he's trying to turn more sharply than it can cope with. I've seen this sort of thing on quite a few occasions (multiple levels). I was trying to get a tag-induced scream, but there was nothing audible this time. November 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM163. Level 10, Easy.
01:00 (Last-minute loss) Supported by an oversized squad of Marines (having got seven extras after a Banshee grab), I close in on the final two Jackals of this area. But my Banshee is almost cooked, so for safety I quickly blast one guy. The other is hopelessly outnumbered and soon panics. Just as a Marine cruises into him with a smoking Ghost, another bozo carelessly shoots the Ghost, causing it to blow. The explosion may be what kills the Jackal. Unfortunately, Johnson gets splattered by the wreckage. Just when we were almost done! May 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM241. Level 5, Heroic.
01:19 (Hill throw) In this skirmish at the structure entrance, a Grunt gets a bit confused and lobs his plasma grenade at the hill. Good work grunty! For another example of a grunty mis-throw, see 'Confused Grunt' in BCM84. November 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM259. Level 6, Heroic.
01:33 (Welcoming dance) After descending to a Shade then going the rest of the way in the Shade, I'm greeted by a Marine who does a bit of a welcoming dance. Or a shuffle at least. Ok he's never be on Broadway, but he did his best. March 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM136. Level 5, Heroic.
02:00 (Reunited) Quite a bit of freakiness here. After tagging the Banshee directly, I throw another plasma then board to force-launch the Banshee up the shaft. The second plasma sticks as desired, though it's just out of shot on the tail. Normally the second blast would've destroyed the Banshee and killed me, but by chance I'm ejected just beforehand through clipping a ring. I go my own way and end up at the landing zone, still breathing. The Banshee goes another way, bouncing around the dome (it can be seen in a few frames), and ends up almost in the same place! July 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM251. Level 5, Heroic.
02:19 (Grunt hunt) This is just a bit of fun at the end of a rockslide megabattle. There's one Grunt left, and when I hear him I go in pursuit to give him an amusing send-off. Takes a while to catch him though, because he goes walkabout. November 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM257. Level 2, Heroic.
02:38 (REAL bad) This critter already tagged my visor earlier in the movie, and now here's some more of his handiwork - though at least this time he gets splattered. The hog gets tagged and the bang leaves only Stacker alive. And needless to say, the situation isn't looking good for him. "This ain't bad, this is real bad!" February 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM272. Level 2, Heroic.
02:54 (Grunt bombed) Things go badly wrong for me here: I end up getting killed by a Grunt bomb of my own making! After I tag the Grunt, he's blasted my way by a grenade he fumbled. Then my plasma goes off on him, which takes down my shield. But it also detonates a plasma he dropped, and that finishes me off. December 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM261. Level 6, Heroic.
03:08 (Far rock landing) In this rather old clip I descend by bouncing off the ledge then getting cushioned by the further of the two small rocks. That's pretty unusual because it's hard to reach, unlike the nearer rock featured in BCM12. I don't think I've shown this descent variant before. This clip's been waiting a long time! January 2011 footage. Level 5, Heroic.
03:19 (Fall guy) Here's the yeti Flood 'Shade guy' on top of the level, repeatedly dropping from a pistol shot. Watching this, you might get the notion that shooting him early is causing him to drop. But no. He's dropping because he's reanimating fragile, which is random (the earliness of the shot is irrelevant). After six drops he finally reanimates undroppable. But he'd also been dropped twice before teleporting, so in total he dropped eight times before becoming undroppable. That's the most I've ever had. Pretty extreme! December 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM268. Level 6, Easy.
03:50 (Double clearance) A spot of rockslide megabattle action now, culminating with a fairly loud and impressive chain reaction. My plasma grenade kills a pair of Elites, but also detonates a loose plasma which leads to the detonation of their dropped plasmas. Nice! November 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM256. Level 2, Heroic.
04:07 (Lookout luck-out) Remember the 'Head trimmer' clip from BCM234? Here's another play of that situation, but this time I kill the Ellite with a fuel rod blast. The lookout lucked out! January 2017 footage. Level 5, Normal.
04:16 (Hog stop) Oldest clip of the movie. You might think this footage was from when I was recording for BCM11, but actually it was from two months earlier. Unlike the bouncy impacts shown in that movie (starting at 2:03), I come to a freaky abrupt stop at the hog. Didn't even make my shield bleep! January 2010 footage. Level 5, Heroic.
04:27 (Meet 'n greet) This Banshee pilot drops in for a visit but gets pretty much sent back the way he came, thanks to a chain reaction. November 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM163. Level 10, Easy.
04:39 (Through the pain barrier) Another force-launch. It's like I really smash through a dome panel; but I also stop suddenly, settling on it. I assume that my Banshee pushed me through. Good comedy I think. July 2017 footage from when I was recording for either BCM251 or BCM252. Level 5, Heroic.
04:49 (Mortar misfire) Quite an oddity this; never had it happen before. After getting the Wraith to the bottom of the cavern with two very controlled bounces (not shown), I bail and have a little duel. Just as I destroy the Wraith with a rocket, it fires, but the plasma ball doesn't clear the Wraith. It apparently hits something, detonating the pilot's loose grenades. What was hit? Either the wreckage or the pilot's body. Not sure which, but I'm leaning towards the former on account of the blue splash effect. I'm not sure we would've got that if the body had been hit. For reference, there was a splash effect at the start of the clip when a shot hit the Banshee. February 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM276. Level 5, Legendary.
05:09 (Moonshot) To end on the same topic we started, here's another nice clip which didn't make it into my movie on the departure circling anomaly. I destroy the Banshee with a plasma ball and wait for the wreckage to picturesquely flame across the face of the moon, as seen through my zoomed pistol. Of course, I had to get the timing just right. Took a bit of trying! My original title for this clip was 'Banshee transit', but later on I thought of 'Moonshot'. Much more poetic. December 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM209. Level 2, Normal.
Closing remarks Yes, I know it's only been six movies since the last 'freakiness and fun' movie, but I had plenty of clips building up on my hard drive, so I thought I'd get another one done - and then I can get on with something else. Out of the 19 clips, 12 involved plasma grenades (11 centrally, 1 peripherally). I'm not sure if that's a record for these movies, but it just goes to show how much fun those things lead to!
