BCM418 - Freakiness and fun

(5:32) Various levels and difficulties. My 30th 'freakiness and fun' compilation shows 16 freaky or amusing incidents, many of which occurred while recording footage for my usual movies - so you may recognize some of the situations.

Released April 4th 2020, gameplay recorded 2015-2020.

Commentary

00:02 (Best wheel forward) In this Warthog catapulting clip there's an amusing effect whereby the hog's front right wheel is almost stationary in the view. It's a bit like the hog is spinning around the wheel. November 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM386. Level 2, Heroic.

00:20 (Third time unlucky) This Elite needs three attempts to board his Ghost. And when he finally gets going, he acquires more speed than he bargained for! March 2020 footage from when I was recording for BCM414. Level 5, Heroic.

00:46 (Sharpshooter) I've already included a number of these Wraith clips in past 'freakiness and fun' movies, but here's another good one. I fail to connect when I take a fuel rod shot, but the Wraith pilot scores an impressive posthumous hit (he dies just before the shot connects). February 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM274. Level 5, Legendary.

01:11 (Pilot failure) This is an example of the departure death anomaly. I've shown plenty of those before of course, but this one is rather nice, with the pilot seen popping out as the Banshee cruises high overhead. April 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM344. Level 2, Normal.

01:44 (Valley return) This speculative slide down a cliff face turns out fairly badly, and Johnson is not impressed with my return to the valley. September 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM381. Level 2, Heroic.

02:04 (Open-top tag) Oldest clip in the movie. When a Maw Banshees cruise in, I score a nice pilot tag from the side. This is the final clip I'm using up, from my time working on that activity. November 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM163. Level 10, Easy.

02:20 (All stop) This is really weird. After I kill their leader and move in with a shotgun, a bunch of Grunts goes motionless for a few seconds. Then just as I switch on my flashlight, they reactivate! March 2020 footage from when I was recording for BCM415. Level 8, Legendary.

02:48 (Short stay) My attempt to reach the small plateau succeeds - except that I'm only there for a moment before I fall off the other side. Whoops! November 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM389. Level 2, Heroic.

03:04 (Frozen frag) Here I'm up on a pipe in the cavern, with some Marines down below. When I lob a frag across to a Jackal, it hits his shield and is briefly frozen in mid-air, before it goes off in his face. November 2016 footage. Level 5, Normal.

03:23 (Rocky rocket) I try to rocket the falling Elite, but fail to realize how close I was to a big rock. Silly cyborg! March 2020 footage from when I was recording for BCM414. Level 5, Heroic.

03:42 (Which way to the rockslide?) After I headshoot this newly spawned Jackal and he lands on the ground, his right arm goes into a posture that looks for all the world like he's pointing towards the rockslide. Pretty amusing I thought. Hopefully my caption made for a decent joke. October 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM384 (specifically the 2:38 clip). Level 2, Heroic.

03:53 (Face frag) After tagging a blue Elite I throw a frag, intending it to bounce off the angled siding around the room. But it hits the Elite's body and freezes in mid-air, then blasts me in the face. Pretty slick combat eh? January 2020 footage from when I was recording for BCM402. Level 5, Legendary.

04:10 (Stacker wuz 'ere) A nice sniper shot here, which leaves a patch of Stacker's blood on the tower, like graffiti. August 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM373. Level 2, Heroic.

04:27 (Three by three) Overlooking the rockslide, three plasma balls come my way and then I do a nice frag of three close Jackals. September 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM381. Level 2, Heroic.

04:51 (Ramp boost) During this hectic combat in the glasshouse, which I'd stormed, an Elite gets a boost from a frag, sending him up a ramp and out through a window frame. Naturally I take the opportunity to rocket him. December 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM398. Level 5, Heroic.

05:08 (Best shot) Here's an amusing case of a Marine who starts gloating about victory a bit too soon! May 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM360. Level 5, Heroic.

Closing remarks It's a been quite a while since the last compilation - half a year in fact - but I'm glad to finally bring the number up to a nice round thirty. That's quite a bit of freakiness and fun! A total of 551 items, if I've tallied that correctly.
