BCM273 - Freakiness and fun, assorted clips

(5:33) Various levels and difficulties. Here's my 19th 'freakiness and fun' compilation, showing 20 freaky or amusing incidents, most of which occurred while recording footage for my usual movies - so you may recognize some of the situations.

Released February 17th 2018, gameplay recorded 2015-2018.

Commentary

00:02 (Fatal shake-up) Starting a rocket assisted bridge assault in a cavern megabattle, I send a stream of needles into the nearest Hunter. One of the bangs alters his direction as he starts to swipe, causing him to go over the edge. January 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM215. Level 5, Normal.

00:24 (Rear-ended) Here's some fine comedy from a far area defence in a rockslide megabattle. My frag hurts a blue Elite and also raises the rear of my Warthog, which then comes down and splatters him - and then there's a needle bang for good measure. As a bonus, his needler flies my way, giving me a handy top-up! November 2017 footage from the day after releasing BCM257. I was just having some more fun - because far area defence is glorious. Level 2, Heroic.

00:38 (Hump shunt) Heading down the valley towards a squad of Marines in the tunnel, a Banshee blast lands near the back of the hog just as we're reaching the hump I was going to launch off, and it has the effect of lifting the hog over, in level attitude. September 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.

00:49 (Super-dive) My attempt at grabbing the bridge Banshee doesn't work out, and the Banshee starts to fly off. When I try to tag it for fun, the grenade gets caught on the arch and falls to the ground on the other side of the wall, causing a Grunt to dive clear. It's no ordinary dive though. By the looks of it, this critter had a really big breakfast! May 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM241. Level 5, Heroic.

01:16 (Hump shunt 2) Here's another example of getting lifted over the hump - this time eliciting a whoop from the passenger! September 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.

01:27 (Rock runner) Some novel yeti Flood business. This is log guy inside a rock, running on the spot, blocked by a Shade. I'd been trying out an early plan for seeing his teleport arrival. If I recall correctly, what happened was this. He fell off the log and went to the right, thus got blocked on the right; and then I blasted the Shade onto him, and it bumped him into the rock. December 2017 footage, about a week before making BCM269. Level 6, Heroic.

01:38 (Jackal motif) Oldest clip in the movie. I think this was after a twin bridges megabattle. There were two dead Jackals quite close together, backed by purple snow, and I liked how it looked so I tried to make some arty footage. Maybe you could hypnotise people with this! The purple was fading all the time, so I only had a few minutes to get good footage. When the purple was gone, the scene didn't look so pretty. April 2015 footage. Level 5, probably Heroic.

01:56 (343 Grunt bomb) At the start of 343 Guilty Spark I tag the first Grunt, and his fumbled plasma blasts him towards his buddy, at which point my plasma goes off. If you want to see a Jackal bomb, check out BCM36 around 3:02. November 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM261. Level 6, Heroic.

02:10 (Stacker jam) Comedy in a rockslide megabattle. As I make a sharp left to head into the rockslide through a tight gap, the hog splatters a Grunt but picks up the plasma grenade he was about to throw. The blast leaves only Stacker alive, with the hog wedged vertically in the gap; and he puts a bow on the comedy by saying "Aw that's just great!" February 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM272. Level 2, Heroic.

02:24 (Falling target) An enemy Banshee is stuck in the side of the bridge, and my fuel rod shot ejects the pilot. As he falls, I first of all damage him with plasma fire, then finish him with a beautiful fuel rod shot. That sort of hit is hard to do, due to the low shot speed (notice how far ahead of his path I had to aim). But I'd had a lot of practice. June 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM184. Level 5, Heroic.

02:34 (Double-decker) During some hectic defence in a rockslide megabattle I spot two Marines in an unconventional formation. One on top of the other! November 2017 footage from after releasing BCM256 and BCM257. Level 2, Heroic.

02:57 (Short exploration) My intended exploration of the entry chamber was rather short-lived here. Climbing steeply, the roof of the Banshee clips the overhead beam and I get ejected. Oops! March 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM223. Level 5, Heroic.

03:11 (Unscheduled stop) Doing a V-clip Shade ride descent from the bridge, I get abruptly ejected at the ledge. Oh well - at least I got halfway down. May 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM180. Level 5, Heroic.

03:29 (Call it a draw?) In this rockslide megabattle there was one Grunt left. My descending needle attack gets him good but I'm standing too close after the first bang. When the second bang goes off, it detonates the plasma he dropped, and I'm done for. November 2017 footage from after releasing BCM256 and BCM257. Level 2, Heroic.

03:48 (Ramp trouble) I had a bit of bother on the bridge here. Couldn't seem to advance up the ramp. Then I saw the problem: somehow the Ghost had got caught up. I freed it a few seconds later though. July 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM250. Level 5, Easy.

04:06 (Spawn shot) When this Grunt spawns, he survives for only two frames of animation before getting a headshot. That amounted to less than a tenth of a second. A pretty short battle for him! I was actually going to title this clip 'Short battle', but then I realized I'd already used that for a clip in an earlier 'Freakiness and fun' movie, so I thought of something else instead (it's my policy that every clip in this series be uniquely named). By the way, my shot wasn't in reaction to him spawning. Rather, I shot at about the time I expected him to spawn - aiming at the approximate expected location of his head. Turned out nicely! November 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM259 (specifically, when recording for the section starting at 3:59, concerning the covies who spawn outside the structure). Level 6, Heroic.

04:19 (Orbit) You may recall the 'Odd one out' clip from my previous 'Freakiness and fun' movie, BCM255. Here's some more footage of that rising plasma grenade. Bit like orbiting a planet. It makes a pretty sight, wouldn't you say? January 2017 footage from when doing a kill 'em all run. Level 5, Legendary.

04:39 (Unstoppable, stopped) A panicking Grunt reckons I'm unstoppable, but these floating ARs have other ideas! November 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM259. Level 6, Heroic.

04:49 (Aerial survey) Another clip involving the hog getting tagged when heading into the rockslide. This time I get launched pretty good, getting a brief aerial view. February 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM272. Level 2, Heroic.

05:07 (Late drop) Having re-boarded the Pelican at the start of AOTCR, I drop down just as it starts to fly off, and a Grunt ends up getting launched (and shot in mid-air). June 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM247 (specifically, for the final part, captioned 'Aborted ride'). Level 5, Normal.

Closing remarks There were two clips here from when I was doing plays for my rockslide megabattle island plateau defence movie BCM272. I've got several more 'mishap' clips from such plays, including several involving the hog getting tagged; so expect to see those cropping up in quite a few 'Freakiness and fun' movies to come.
